Ad Hoc Committee on the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The Los Angeles City Council's Ad Hoc Committee on the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games voted 5-0 on Sept. 30, 2026 to approve Recreation and Parks' $21,464,101 youth sports plan for 2026-27, funded by LA28, as amended, and 4-0 to have City offices ask LA28 for a Los Angeles-only procurement commitment, according to the Journal (meeting, video). In all it approved a motion asking Cultural Affairs to report within 60 days on planning for the LA28 Cultural Olympiad; a motion directing City offices to ask LA28 for a spending commitment specific to City of Los Angeles businesses and report back within 15 days; a motion asking for a report on the FIFA World Cup watch parties and fan festivals; and, as amended, Recreation and Parks' 2026-27 project plan for the Youth Sport Partnership with LA28, with an amending motion asking the department to report on continuing youth sports subsidies after 2028; and, as amended, a motion on procurement for local and small businesses at non-venue activations. It continued a report on activation zones and viewing parties to a date to be determined. The Council had not voted on any of the five approved files as of Oct. 6, 2026 (CF 15-0989-S76).
