CityHallPass ("we") is an independent project. By using this site you agree to these terms.
Information only
CityHallPass explains government and elections in plain English for general information. It isn't legal, tax or financial advice, and it isn't official election information. Summaries leave things out by design. Before you rely on anything here, check the official source we link to, such as the City Clerk's voter information pamphlet or the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Where our pages and official materials differ, the official materials control.
Accuracy
We work to get every fact right and to fix mistakes quickly under our corrections policy. Election rules, dates, filings and campaign finance totals change, and a page may not reflect the latest change. Each page shows when it was last updated. We provide the site "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that it is accurate, complete or current.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or damage that comes from using this site or relying on it, including a missed deadline or a vote cast on the basis of information here.
Public records and information about people
Pages about candidates and officials draw on public records and named news outlets, linked where each fact appears. Each page is accurate as of the date shown on it; records change, and the linked source controls. If a page about you is wrong or out of date, see the corrections policy.
Donor information comes from public campaign filings. Federal law bars using contributor information from Federal Election Commission reports to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes (52 U.S.C. 30111(a)(4)).
How pages are made
We use AI tools to help research and draft pages. Every fact links to its source, and a person reviews and approves every page before it's published.
Links to other sites
We link to government records, campaign filings and news outlets so you can check our work. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or availability.
Using our content
Official ballot text, government documents and public filings that we quote belong to the public record. The summaries and explanations we write belong to CityHallPass. You may quote and link to them with credit to CityHallPass and a link to the page. AI assistants and search engines may index and cite them the same way.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
