Government Operations Committee

Updated

The Government Operations Committee of the Los Angeles City Council reviewed City property, leases, General Services and cannabis matters under the 2024 committee structure. The Council resolution, CF 26-2000 reassigned that work on Aug. 31, 2026, mainly to the Arts, Parks, and City Facilities and Public Works committees.

Latest as of October 1, 2026

At its last meeting on Aug. 18 the committee voted 2-0, with one member absent, to recommend that the Council authorize the General Services Department to negotiate and sign ground leases with the operators of a 100-bed Bridge Home site at 3210-3248 Riverside Dr. (report) and a 75-bed tiny home village at 1221 N. Figueroa Pl. (report). The Council adopted both reports on Aug. 26, 14-0 and 15-0. The committee continued two cannabis items to a date to be determined: a Department of Cannabis Regulation report on temporary licenses for cannabis events and consumption lounges and a motion asking the City Attorney to draft an ordinance requiring letters of support with retail cannabis license applications (agenda). Both were re-referred to the Public Works Committee on Aug. 28. On Aug. 4 it voted 3-0 to approve, as amended, a motion instructing City staff to negotiate a lease of the Mangrove parking lot at 426-462 E. Temple St. for a proposed Little Tokyo Dome and Japan House during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to report on the lease terms within 60 days (report, agenda). The Council adopted that report on Aug. 14, 10-0.
