MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council

Published October 1, 2026 · Updated October 9, 2026

The MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council covers the area around MacArthur Park west of downtown, roughly from 3rd Street south to Olympic Boulevard and from Vermont Avenue east to Alvarado Street, per its bylaws, which divide it into five districts and note that the park is shared with the Westlake South Neighborhood Council. Under the City's Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils, anyone who lives, works or owns property in the area is a stakeholder, as is anyone who declares a community interest there through a school, nonprofit, religious or other community group.

Latest as of October 9, 2026

The MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council's Executive Committee scheduled an Oct. 8 special meeting whose agenda listed setting the agenda for a special board meeting on Oct. 14, 2026, a review of applications for vacant board seats and drafting the council's funding program administrative packet for fiscal year 2026-2027. The agenda did not list the items going to the board. The board's September 2 agenda included two $5,000 Neighborhood Purposes Grants, to LA Commons for cleaning and repainting planters around MacArthur Park and to Music Arts Community Los Angeles (MAC·LA) for outreach on a park community advisory council, and a motion to fill two vacant At-Large seats. It also listed an update from the Department of Recreation and Parks on the MacArthur Park fencing project.
