Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council

Published October 1, 2026 · Updated October 9, 2026

The Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council covers the northwest part of San Pedro, in four areas: Taper, Park Western, Summerland/Miraleste and Averill, between the Rancho Palos Verdes city line and the Port of Los Angeles and Gaffey Street (bylaws, Article III); most of it is in the San Pedro community plan area, with the rest in the Wilmington-Harbor City plan area. Anyone who lives, works or owns property inside its boundaries, or belongs to or takes part in a community organization there, is a stakeholder (bylaws, Article IV).

Latest as of October 9, 2026

The Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council's board holds a special meeting on Oct. 13, and its agenda asks the board to approve a Community Impact Statement supporting CF 15-0989-S71, the Council's request for a Port of Los Angeles implementation plan for its Public Access Investment Plan projects. The same agenda's consent calendar lists $2,250 (our sum) for a holiday parade, a Council District 15 tree lighting and the Candy Cane Lane event, and its motions include raising the Sun Productions Audio Service rate from $275 to $330. The council filed a Community Impact Statement on Aug. 3 on CF 18-0651-S3, Councilmember Tim McOsker's motion on crisis and bridge housing at 515 N. Beacon St. run by Harbor Interfaith Services; its July 13 agenda listed the statement as one of support, along with a letter to the Los Angeles Regional Water Board on cleanup at Phillips 66 (agenda). The Sept. 14 consent calendar included statements supporting council files on illegal fireworks, street takeovers and limits on the Rancho LPG and JCI Jones Chemicals hazardous materials sites, and opposing CF 26-0906-S4, a motion tied to the Boyle Heights cold storage warehouse fire that would require CERT training (agenda).
