West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission
The West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission is one of seven Area Planning Commissions in Los Angeles; each hears cases from its region, from certain smaller-scale projects to appeals, including coastal permits in Venice and Playa del Rey. Its five commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council (CF 26-1200-S43).

The West Los Angeles Area Planning Commission's Oct. 7 meeting agenda again listed the change of use of a church at 305 E. Rose Ave. in Venice to a 161-seat private club with zero parking spaces, continued from Aug. 5 and Sept. 2, and gave Oct. 7 as the last day to act (agenda). Audio of the meeting is posted; minutes were not posted on City Planning's meeting index as of Oct. 9, 2026. Its Aug. 19 agenda included two single-family home appeals on Wanda Park Drive, and its July 1 agenda an appeal of a coastal permit to plug a natural gas well at the Playa del Rey storage facility. On Sept. 2 the Council approved Mayor Bass's reappointment of Lisa Waltz Morocco for a term ending June 30, 2031 (CF 26-1200-S43).
