The Los Angeles City Council's Ad Hoc Committee on Unarmed Crisis Prevention, Intervention, and Community Services holds a special meeting Oct. 14, 2026 on one item, the City Administrative Officer's March 10, 2026 status report on the Unarmed Model of Crisis Response, which counts 19,827 calls handled by unarmed teams through Feb. 17, 2026 and describes an expansion into the Rampart, North Hollywood and Topanga LAPD areas (agenda). On Sept. 30 the Council voted 14-0, with one member absent, to adopt the committee's recommendations directing the City Administrative Officer and Chief Legislative Analyst to review the City's community safety programs and develop a model for a unified citywide unarmed crisis response program, which the committee approved as amended on Aug. 28 (committee report, agenda). Also on Aug. 28 the committee approved as amended a motion asking the Police Department for a report on nuisance complaints and calls for service at publicly funded homelessness service centers; on Sept. 15 the Public Safety Committee concurred and added an amendment from Council District 13 (agenda), and the file is also pending in the Homelessness and Health Committee.
