On Oct. 7, 2026, the Los Angeles City Council's Arts, Parks, and City Facilities Committee approved a $78.2 million contract with CGI Technologies and Solutions Inc. to support the City's Financial Management System and a motion asking the City Attorney to draft an ordinance allowing bikes and e-bikes on designated park paths, each 2-0 with Katy Yaroslavsky absent. It approved 14 of the 17 items on its agenda and noted and filed two, including the 2025 Citywide Park Needs Assessment report (meeting). At its first meeting on Sept. 16 the committee approved 16 items and concurred with the Public Works Committee on one more (agenda). They included three motions directing Animal Services to report on shelter security needs, evening and weekend hours and the condition of its buildings; a motion asking Recreation and Parks to report on and update its rules for private events in parks that charge admission, with public review (committee report); and a motion asking the Department of Transportation to report in 30 days on the cost of widening the Marvin Braude Bike Trail through Venice Beach before the 2028 Games (committee report). The Council adopted the bike trail report on Sept. 29, 11-0 with four members absent (Council action), and the parks events and three Animal Services reports on Sept. 30, each 13-0 with two members absent, the vote records on those council files show (agenda).
