At its last meeting on Aug. 25 the committee approved, 3-0, a motion instructing the City Administrative Officer to identify funding for a consultant's feasibility study of Zoo governance models (report) and a motion instructing Recreation and Parks, and asking its board, to rename Pershing Square as Biddy Mason Park (report). It also approved three commission appointments (agenda). The Council adopted the renaming report on Sept. 4 (Council action) and the Zoo report on Sept. 9 (Council action), each 11-0 with four members absent. On Aug. 11 the committee approved a motion asking Animal Services and the City Administrative Officer to report on the feasibility of seeking a contractor to run one or more City animal shelters (report, agenda). The Council adopted that report on Aug. 21, 12-0 with three members absent (Council action).
