Housing and Homelessness Committee

Updated

The Housing and Homelessness Committee of the Los Angeles City Council reviewed housing, tenant and homelessness matters under the 2024 committee structure. The Council resolution, CF 26-2000 split it on Aug. 31, 2026 into the Housing Committee and the Homelessness and Health Committee.

Latest as of October 1, 2026

At its last meeting on Aug. 5 the committee approved four reappointments to the Rent Adjustment Commission (agenda, journal). It approved a motion instructing the Bureau of Sanitation to suspend CARE+ cleanups in areas under a City or State environmental emergency. On Aug. 26 the Council adopted that report 15-0 as amended by Amending Motion 18A, which replaced the instructions with requests that the bureau report back on options to suspend the cleanups (CF 26-0936). The committee also approved, as amended, a motion directing the Chief Legislative Analyst to report on the impacts of the County Department of Homeless Services and Housing becoming the lead of the region's Continuum of Care and Coordinated Entry System, which the Council adopted 12-0 on Aug. 19 (CF 26-0673). It approved 5-0 a motion instructing the Housing Department to report on using Handyworker Program funds for smoke remediation. Its Aug. 19 meeting was cancelled (agenda).
