Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council

Published October 1, 2026 · Updated October 2, 2026

The Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council covers Sherman Oaks, in the southeast San Fernando Valley, in Council District 4. Its board has seats for seven areas, each with a residential, business and community interest representative, per its September 14 agenda. Under the City's Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils, anyone who lives, works or owns property in the area is a stakeholder, as is anyone who declares a community interest there through a school, nonprofit, religious or other community group.

Latest as of October 1, 2026

On September 14 the board voted 9-0 to support Council File 26-0906-S4 in its amended form, which asks for a report on making CERT emergency training more available to Neighborhood Council board members. Its August 10 agenda had carried two committee motions on the original version, which would have required the training: one in support and one against unless amended. The September 14 agenda also included a motion asking City Planning to limit any density incentives in the Missing Middle Ordinance beyond state law to no more than three ADUs per lot with 25 percent open space and 15-foot setbacks, and a letter asking Children's Hospital Los Angeles to reinstate gender-affirming care for transgender youth.
