4A. Immigration update for July 2026

  • What it does: An LAPD report dated Aug. 19, 2026, listed for approval and transmittal to the Mayor (agenda). It says a keyword search of calls found 98 potential incidents in July 2026 and that one qualified for reporting under the Mayor’s Executive Directive 17: officers answered a radio call of a possible kidnapping, ICE agents had left before officers arrived, and the watch commander verified that ICE had carried out an enforcement action. The report says LAPD did not respond to any in-progress federal immigration enforcement action and does not know how many such actions took place in the city (report).

Item 4B is listed as a verbal presentation (agenda). The Inspector General’s audit also appeared as a verbal update on the July 21 and July 28 agendas. No audit report on the topic was listed on the Inspector General’s reports page as of Oct. 1, 2026.
