Routine items:

  • The NS Corporation contract, adopted as amended by a motion (Hernandez - Hutt) to adopt the City Administrative Officer’s Oct. 22 report. The Public Works Committee had disapproved the earlier report without prejudice on Oct. 27 because the attached contract was incorrect (CF 26-1287).
  • The 2025 Internet Crimes Against Children grant (CF 26-1071).

State sales and use tax audit payment (CF 26-1496)

  • What it does: The Controller’s report asks the Council and Mayor to authorize moving $3,043,863 from the General/Reserve Fund and paying it to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. The audit covers City purchases from 2013 to 2019. The report also asks departments to reimburse their shares (Controller report).
  • Money: The state’s November 2024 notice billed $6,056,420. The Controller says adjustments cut the base tax from $3,773,726 to $1,757,605, and a settlement cut interest by $2,192,388. The report says more delinquency charges would accrue without payment by Oct. 31, 2026 (Controller report).
  • What happened: Adopted forthwith, 10-0. The Budget and Finance Committee waived consideration, and the file lists the Mayor’s concurrence as returned on Oct. 30 (CF 26-1496).
