Van Nuys Neighborhood Council

Published October 1, 2026 · Updated October 10, 2026

The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council covers central Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley, from the 405 freeway east to the Tujunga Wash and from the railroad tracks north of Saticoy Street south to Burbank Boulevard, plus the Van Nuys Boulevard business corridor south to Magnolia Boulevard, per its bylaws. Under the City's Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils, anyone who lives, works or owns property in the area is a stakeholder, as is anyone who declares a community interest there through a school, nonprofit, religious or other community group.

Latest as of October 10, 2026

The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council's board meets Oct. 14 on an agenda with roll call votes on a revised 2026-27 budget that adds $8,776.60 in rollover funds, a Neighborhood Purposes Grant of up to $2,500 to Valley Intercommunity Council for home-delivered meals to older adults in Van Nuys, up to $500 for tables at six late-October events and a possible change to the polling places for the council's May 1, 2027 election. Two days earlier, on Oct. 12, the board and its Outreach Committee hold a second special joint meeting online whose agenda repeats the Oct. 8 agenda's items on event tables, promotional items and street banners, now with a $500 cap, and says any action is the committee's, not the full board's. The executive committee met Oct. 7 on an agenda that carried the draft Oct. 14 board agenda.
